Regional Economic Study

In 2007, Lübeck Airport looked back over its 90 year history.

Since 2000, Lübeck Airport has been able to increasingly build on its market position, particularly in its regular services focussing on Low Cost Carriers (LCC).

Since December 2005, 90% of the company’s shares have been owned by Infratil Airports Europe Ltd, the parent of which, Infratil Ltd., is listed on the New Zealand stock exchange. 10% of the company’s shares continue to be held by the Hanseatic city of Lübeck.

In order to be able to comfortably handle the catchment area of more than 7 million people (in a radius of 120 minutes travel to and from the airport) and approximately 4.1 million people (within 90 minutes journey time) together with the dynamic growth, particularly on regional platforms with a high low cost share, further expansion of Lübeck Airport is needed.

The Regional Economic Study gives a preview of the future design of Lübeck Airport and explains the positive regional economic effects of the expansion of Lübeck Airport.
